Do Wop Wed Widing Hood - 2008
In early March, the Prep Drama Club's production of "Doo Wop Wed Widing Hood" was held. Based on the well known fairytale, it had an awful lot of "poetic licence" and of course the usual "happy ever after" finale! The 'best performance' cup was awarded by an external adjuducator to 'The Evil Queen', played by a Year six girl.

Devon Performing Arts Festival - 2008
A record sixty-four children from the Preparatory Department took part in the Devon Performing Arts Festival in Exeter between the 4th and 7th March 2008. Set poems, prose and choral speaking were all represented. The youngest participant, aged only four, was awarded First Place for her set poem. The younger children were especially commended for their bravery in speaking in public at so young an age.

The following individual awards were made - Thirteen children achieved Merit 81+; Thirty one children were Commended and Four children achieved Distinction. Year Four deserve a special mention as they not only won their Choral Speaking Class, but the Performance Cup. Well Done!

English Speaking Board
On February 14th, Briony Huntley, English Speaking Board Independent School's Advisor came to Trinity to examine 21 Junior children for their English Speaking board grades, with four diciplines; talking on a chosen subject, introducing and talking about a chosen book, recitation of a piece of poetry or prose and listening and discussion.

A lot was learnt from these interesting, eloquent and very confident children! All the children passed with high grades - 9 Merit + and 12 Distinctions. Special mention must go to two Year Four pupils, who both achieved distinctions in all four areas of assessment. 30th June sees the Infants taking part, results to follow.

Junior X-Factor - November 2007
The infant and junior X-Factor competitions have become a highly popular fixture within the Preparatory Department recently and the Junior version, held on November 30th was no exception. The acts up on stage included whistling, songs, dance, guitar-playing and poetry. The votes were very close, but it was a beautiful rendition of 'Walking In The Air', by a Year Five pupil, which won runner-up position, with a hilarious song and dance by two Year Three children winning first place, Very well done to all who competed and we look forward to the Infant X-Factor in the summer term!

Infant Christmas Production 2007
The Prep Drama and Music departments organised the Infant production of 'A Tale Of Two Birthdays' at Christmas'. Although characters usually included belly-dancers, sand-dancers and Eastern dancers, the traditional nativity story was evident through the innovative acting of Three Kings. All infants form Reception through to Prep 3 were involved in some way and the result was colourful, entertaining and thought-provoking performance, enjoyed by all.

Drama Cup - "Best Performer" - December 2006
Christmas in the Prep Department this year was a collaboration between Nigel Birt and Julia Ward, which produced for us in December 'Five Gold Rings'.

What a tremendous show this proved to be playing to packed audiences every day!

The Friday performance was adjudicated by Mr and Mrs Hunter from Paignton Operatic Society with many years of theatrical experience between them. After much soul searching and deliberation, they awarded the Drama Club Cup for “Best Performer” to Emma for her wonderful portrayal of 'Lucy' a little girl who, during the story, came to understand friendship and teamwork. Well done Emma!

Infant X-Factor - December 2006
Another Christmas, another Infant X Factor and what a treat this one was!!! We had singers, dancers and bands, the competition was fierce. The youngest competitor was 4 and the oldest was the grand old age of 7!! Amazingly, all of their acts are worked out by themselves at school or at home, this is all their own work.

After a great afternoon of entertainment watched by the rest of the Prep Department and also the families of the competitors, a close vote found the “Rainbow Girls “the eventual winners. This was an “all girl” group from Reception dancing the Macarana.

So well done to the “Rainbow Girls”!!!!

More coming soon!
